Yes – it’s back! Bigger (well, erm, nope, the images are still 110×110), longer (erm, probably not) and uncut! Erm…

Anyway – Sorry about the long hiatus: it was unplanned, but time constraints and high work loads meant I hardly had time to check my email: let alone entries (let alone take screengrabs). I will try and ensure the next round is on time though – talking of rounds: congratulations to lawrie for correctly recognising Guess That Movie 70 as being from Scream Three!

For those of you who are new, read on for the details of the competition and the prizes you could win – otherwise, just make your guess by leaving a comment with your name (or alias), email address (real one please: only I can see them anyway and I hate spam), web site address (totally optional) and the name of the movie you are guessing at.

For those who are new here, basically Guess That Movie (GTM) is a little competition where you have “simply” just got to recognise which movie the screen shot on the left has been taken from. I say “simply” as sometimes, it’s not quite obvious which movie it is (yes, the screenshot has been cropped and resized – but I’ve done nothing else to it).

Why bother guessing? Well, there are prizes to be won! Yep – prizes for a “free to enter competition” (well, I get a little kick back from the Google Adsense adverts on the right of each page which is just covering the prize fund: otherwise it comes out of my back pocket). What’s the prizes? At the moment, they are Amazon gift vouchers (for your local Amazon store in your local currency), but I’m open to suggestions.

What’s the value of the “FREE to win” Amazon gift vouchers? Well, it just depends on how quickly and accurately the image is guessed. As soon as I post each image, it’s worth 100 points and each 100points=£1 (roughly US$1.62 or 1.40EUR). However, each wrong guess brings the value down by 5 points and the value decreases over time. After 12 hours, it’s worth 10 points less – 12 hours after that and another 10 points are knocked off, and then 10 points for every 24 hours after that. Oh – and you can only claim a prize once you’ve collected 500 points.

Coming soon to a web site near you – the next round of Guess That Movie…

Yes – after lawrie correctly recognised Guess That Movie 70: Scream III, the next round of Guess That Movie is nearly ready. I was hoping to have it ready today, but machine slowness prevents me from playing a movie to grab a screenshot. But what I’ll do tomorrow evening (promise!) is preload a dozen or so images and try and set them on a timer system so if my workload stays high (which it looks like it will for at least the next couple of weeks), then at least the next round of Guess That Movie will be available.

So until tomorrow – try and recognising what product this TV advertisement was advertising (25 points for the brand, 25 additional points for the product): “Do me a favour, plug me ….”.

First of all – Kymberlie R.
Anyway – here’s image 67 (sorry, I can’t stop playing with the Google calculator) – take a guess and let me know which movie/film you think the screen shot has been taken from. I’ll be generous and give you a clue “You won’t find the scarecrow in this movie”: I doubt it’ll help, but at least you can’t complain I’m not being helpful

Wow! We’ve just had our second unguessed film here at Guess That Movie – nobody was able to recognise the 1992 film In the Eyes of a Stranger (IMDB/ amazoncom:B0000065NM ). Am I making them too hard or something?

Well – let’s move on to image 66 and see if you have any more luck: I’m going to have to ask for either the directors name or the year this movie was released (along with the title) as there are quite a few movies available with the same name as this film.

Yep – prizes for a “free to enter competition” (well, I get a little kick back from the Google Adsense adverts at the top of each page which is just covering the prize fund: otherwise it comes out of my back pocket). What’s the prizes? At the moment, they are Amazon gift vouchers (for your local Amazon store in your local currency), but I’m open to suggestions.

What’s the value of the FREE to win Amazon gift vouchers? Well, it just depends on how quickly and accurately the image is guessed. As soon as I post each image, it’s worth 100 points and each 100points=£1 (roughly US$1.62 or 1.40EUR). However, each wrong guess brings the value down by 5 points and the value decreases over time. After 12 hours, it’s worth 10 points less – 12 hours after that and another 10 points are knocked off, and then 10 points for every 24 hours after that. Oh – and you can only claim a prize once you’ve collected 500 points.

Go on, have a go and Guess That Movie!

A: Pyscho (1998). Correctly guessed by Kymberlie R. McGuire

He’s got 395 points (two hundred for correctly recognising Murder By Death and Village Of the Damned and another 95 points for being the second person to guess at Aliens).

I was surprised at one point though – nobody managed to recognise SouthPark: Bigger Longer and Uncut within the time limit (i.e. all the points ran out due to time, even after I added a 48 hour extension worth 200 points!).

Anyway – I’ll drop Kymberlie an email tomorrow to let her know she’s won a prize (even though she’ll already know if she’s reading this) – and at the same time get the next image uploaded. I’m currently out of captured movie images so I’m going to have to get those screen shots grabbed again!

Congratulations all!
