BWGSMPlay - req.html

BWGSMPlay
Machine Requirements
BWGSMPlay requires the following, at a minimum:
- 167Kb of free memory for the desktop front end
Comprising of 27Kb for the main play-back module and 140Kb for the front-end and buffer/playback space.
- Acorn Risc OS 3.10 or higher (StrongARM compatible)
- A copy of Acorn's !Replay application (also known as ARPlayer and/or !ARMovie)
What to do if you don't have Replay/ARMovie/ARPlayer...
Copies of Replay are available either directly from Acorn Computers Limited, an Acorn approved dealer, Xemplar, or various CD-ROMs.
Failing that you could try the following solution:
If you have two or more Acorn machines, but only have Replay installed upon a single machine, there is a way to make BWGSMPlay work on non-Replay installed machines. Due to copyright restrictions, the following will apply to the 'new' copy of BWGSMPlay:
- You may not distribute the 'new' copy of BWGSMPlay
- You must acknowledge that certain files from the original machine will be copied to BWGSMPlay and that these files are Copyright Acorn Computers Ltd. and must not be distributed.
You may not use (the 'new' version of) BWGSMPlay on machines that you do not have permission to run Acorn's Replay application on. You will have been granted permission to run Acorn's Replay application on these machines if:
- You have been supplied, by Acorn or another appointed third party, media (CD Rom, floppy disc etc) which contains the Replay application if you have permission to use this media on any Risc Os computer
- You have a site-licence or similar for the Replay application
And now, how to make BWGSMPlay work on non-Replay equipped machines:
- Copy BWGSMPlay to a removable media (eg floppy disc, Zip disc etcetera)
- Place this removable media into a machine with Replay installed
- Hold down an
ALT
button on the keyboard, and run BWGSMPlay from the removable media
- You should then be informed that the 'Replay sound codecs have been successfully copied'.
- Remove the media (after dismount etc. if applicable)
Run BWGSMPlay on the non-Replay installed machine. To remove the Replay codecs from BWGSMPlay, just hold down the letter R
on the keyboard when running BWGSMPlay.
