BWGSMPlay
Version History
- v1.09 (1st October 2000) Third public release
- No longer fussy if the file type of the dragged file isn't of type 'data'
Not that fussy about if the file is of 'a known GSM type' - now just displays a warning instead of aborting.
- v1.08 (21st June 1998) Second public release
- Masked out
Wimp_PollIdle
's which should have been done a long time ago. Now uses less than 1% processor usage when idle, previous versions used between 18% and 28%!
- v1.07 (14th June 1998) First public release
- Updated all help files to reflect new distribution (through Beebware Software)
Improved the HTML in the help files.
General tidying up.
Released to the public as 'Shareware'.
- v1.06 (29th October 1997)
- Added complete Interactive Help support (including all windows and menus). Could do with a bit more work on it the I.H. interface, but I don't think it is really necessary at the moment.
Improved MessageTrans
support massively.
Planning to do a full alpha-test on it tomorrow (if possible), so (fingers crossed) I should be able to offer distribution rights at Acorn World.
- v1.05 (20th October 1997)
- Improved support for
MessageTrans
, now 90%+ of all text is read from "Messages".
Spent the last 4 days figuring out how to read the version number from a module. <thought>must buy the PRMs one of these days</though>
Spotted a small fault with the help files, so slightly updated them.
- v1.04 (16th October 1997)
- Added preliminary support for
MessageTrans
, but just stopped short of changing the program to use the full Toolbox suite.
Also added preliminary support for Interactive Help.
- September 1997
- "And lo, on the ninth month, he rested..."
- v1.03 (29th August 1997)
- BWGSMPlay now attempts to recognize the following sound file types and display an appropriate response:
- Audio IFF
- ARMovie
- Sun Audio
- Archimedes Audioworks
- Archimedes Datavox
- IFF/8SVX
- Psion S3a WVE
- RIFF WAVE
- MIDI
- SoundTracker
- RealAudio
- Maestro
Tidied code up so easier to update possible changing details instead of altering templates (eg version number and URLs).
- v1.02 (28th August 1997)
- Now supports "ANT®'s URL Launcher" protocol. When a click is detected any type of URL (http or mailto:) in any window, the user is referred to that page.
- v1.01 (20th August 1997) First Beta Release
- Slightly better error handling. Finished these help files! Add the following facilities:
- Stop play back (just press a key, although there may be a slight delay before playback ceases. This is due to the buffering used to beat hardware limitations)
- Percentage display (previous versions just showed the hourglass, this version shows the approximate percentage of the sample played underneath the hourglass)
- Previous version read the sample playback codecs from its own directory. Unfortunately, Acorn couldn't (or wouldn't!) grant me a licence to distribute these files, so now BWGSMPlay reads these files from ARMovie/Replay.
- Added code to get over above problem. Now when '
ALT
' is held down when BWGSMPlay is run, it copies the appropriate Replay sound codecs to itself. When 'R
' is held down, it deletes them!
Updated Oregan's details (they got their own Internet Domain name, lucky goits :) ).
- v1.00 (8th August 1997)
- Program installed on iconbar. When datafile was dragged to it, it would play it. That's about it! Tested compatibility on the following:
- Acorn StrongARM Risc PC (Risc Os 3.7) 4Mb DRAM
- Acorn StrongARM Risc PC (Risc Os 3.7) 32Mb DRAM and 2Mb VRAM (actually, the same as above but with a much needed upgrade :) ).
- Acorn A3010 (Risc Os 3.11) 4Mb DRAM (running off floppy disc)
- Pre v1.00
- These were all internal development copies and all copies have been erased.
Bugs and/or 'Undocumented features'
None that we know of, except that on some strange occasions BWGSMPlay will 'lock' the computers sound system stopping all sound being played (we've nearly got rid of this though!). Oh, and there is, currently, no volume control.
