Spam: Nigerian Jerry Duruibe: Day 3

It seems my Nigerian spammer “friend” Jerry Duruibe
(part one, two) has taken the bait and thinks I’m really interested in the matter he’s proposed… He sent me his contact details on Wednesday, I replied and he’s quite eager to contact me to proceed… *evil laugh* Mwaahhh.

Well, on Wednesday, “Jerry” asked me for my contact details et al, so I replied. Here’s the text of my reply complete with commentary:

Subject : Re: Rich Pilchard, Application Of Claim. Forward Immediately

Dear Jerry,

I’m fine thanks – just had a complete a reasonable sized business deal today so I’m relatively happy. How about yourself? Many thanks for providing your details, in return my full name is Richard Pilchard and my home address is 1 Charles Street, Leicester, LE1 1GJ.

Strangely enough, one of the police stations in Leicester is situated at the end of Charles Street (so probably is number 1) and has the postcode LE1 1GJ allocated it to.

I am the Chief Execution Officer at LeicConstab (a holding
company for various technology orientated companies) –

Could “LeicConstab” really stand for “Leicestershire Constabulary”? 🙂

a company that originally was set up by my late grandfather in the 1950s and has stayed family owned ever since. I’ve been in the family business since I turned 16. The only real disadvantage is that due to business commitments, I have been unable to commit the time needed to family matters(well, apart from shareholder meetings – my mother and father, now both retired, are still the major stockholders in the company) – I’ve been divorced once and have no intention of going through that sort of stress again!

All lies. To my knowledge, my late grandfather (my other is still alive) was a teacher and didn’t run a family business – and my parents aren’t retired. Oh, and I’ve never even been married, let alone divorced!

But, however, if you were looking for someone that had a lot of money and whose family also had a lot of money (ideal for a kidnap and ransom attack for instance), wouldn’t “I” be the perfect victim?

If you need need to reach me, it is best to call via telephone on +1 661 4206 898 or fax on +1 661 4206 895. Whilst they are American numbers, they do route (at no cost to yourself) direct to whichever phone I am closest with – ideal, if like me, you do end up travelling quite a bit and you won’t be sure which country you will be in this time next week. Plus, it’s a perk of my position 🙂

These are in fact numbers provided by J2 Global Communications (formerly JFax.com), a Unified Messaging Service: any voicemails or faxes sent to those numbers are received by myself via email. Quite handy if you want to keep an electronic copy of a message somebody sends.

I know why you are expressing urgency concerning City Securities, I’ve had a few dealing with similar companies in the past that have said “Yes, although we’ve held onto this money for the last 20 years for you – if you don’t claim it within the next 30 days it will be forfeited”: how come it always seems to be fininacial companies though?

Just mainly ramblings to make him think that I agree with him and understand about the “urgency” of the situation and make him think that I deal with financial companies quite often.

You say that you do have a copy of Albert’s will: I don’t suppose you can forward a copy to me (via email or fax) can you? It’s just that whilst I would very very much like to have the extra money (it’ll be another year before I reach millionare status), I would be interested in reading the will for more educational and informative reasons.

It’ll be interesting to see if he HAS got a copy of any will (it’ll be interesting and informative to the authorities at least), plus note the mention of “it’ll be another year before I reach millionaire status” 🙂

The only problem I can see is what happens if you appoint me the benefactor of the will and somebody with a better claim comes along? Would I then forfeit the money and have to refund it (along with any properties)?

A valid question which anyone should really ask – how will “Jerry” handle it?

I’ll be able to send an email to City Securities Ltd in the next 24 hours or so, but I notice that it has reference to a ‘Mr. Albert Dotto’. Who is Mr.Dotto?

Will he pick up the fact that I noticed his mistake? What reason will he give for the mistake?

It also mentions that I will provide all necessary claim documents, vault keys and copies of his original will: I have none of these (for obvious reasons) – how can this matter be sorted?

Well, this sentence, at least, is all true. How could I put forward my claim if I haven’t got those items?

If you can get back to me on the matters raised in this email as soon as you can, hopefully we can get things moving on this issue.

Gee – I’m eager to get things moving as well aren’t I? 🙂

Unfortunately, it seems HotMail had a problem sending the message to him as I got a “Delivery Status Notification (Delay)” message back from them. 24 hours after I sent the above, Jerry started wondering what had happened to me:

that might araise from the security company about you as I do not want to leave
anything to chances. Please I need you to call me or give me a telephone number

I responded straight away with:

Hi Jerry,

I actually responded within 4 hours of getting your message (it’s a good thing this is coming to my personal webmail account instead of my business one: we’ve had server problems the last 24 hours which have meant I’ve been unable to get that email). Well, that’s the excuse my IT team have been giving me – frankly, I don’t think it’s good enough and sometimes I wonder why I’m paying them the money I am!

I did receive a message saying “Email notification (status): your message has been delay”, perhaps it’s still trying to get to you?

Anyway, I enclose a copy here of what I sent you yesterday. I do understand the urgency of the situation and hope we can move on forthwith regarding this matter.

Yours,
Rich.

And did he reply? Yep….
