Snippet: Packet Loss

*snippet* I’m currently experiencing around 75% to 100% packet loss from my main ADSL ISP to several sites across the internet – including the server my blog is hosted on. Obviously this is causing a severe impact on my connectivity (sustaining a connection where less than 25% of the data reaches you is unmaintainable) and hence why there is a chance there may be no more entries today (and I had around 3 to finish off). Drat. It’s taking around 5 minutes just to get confirmation that my blog server has accepted my post 🙁

Game: Steak Toss

[Steak Toss]Thanks to Firda for blogging about the nice distraction that is the Omaha Steaks Chef Toss game. Firda didn’t think much of the game (possibly because she’s got a slow computer), but I enjoyed it.

You control the “Big Bruce, King of the Grill” at a steak cook off and you have just got to click on the guests to make him flip burgers, steaks, t-bones and filets into their mouths. Of course, you’ve got obstacles like animals popping up which should not be fed: but once you’ve got into the habit of “clicking on anything that moves”, then the critters get fed – more than 3 critters fed and the game is over.

Easy? Well, wait until you get to level 10 and beyond – on every level the characters appear and disappear faster than on the previous level, so once you get to level 10 it’s quite difficult to even move the mouse pointer to them before they’ve disappeared. I still managed to get half way through round/level 13 with a score of 17,675 though.

Fun: Adorable Pussy Picture

[Cat Humping]I swear that my blog’s soon going to be marked “Adult content” by all the content filtering systems out there, but when you see such an adorable picture of a lovely pussy (cat) that I came across via Quinn) it makes it all worth while…

It’s been a few weeks since I last gave a pussy a really good stroking – last time I did it though, both of us got enjoyment out of it and spent the rest of the night together. But enough about my parent’s cat(s).

As per 90% of most images posted here, you can click on the image to enlarge it…. Now I must get to bed!

Snippet: Over 100k words!

*snippet* Looking at my statistics, I’ve just passed the 100,000th word mark in my blog! Yes, I’ve written over one hundred thousand words on this ‘ere blog (the previous entry took the total to 100,466). Wow – that’s a lot of typing (and it doesn’t include the images: but if a picture is worth a thousand words and I’ve got around 200 pictures – than that’s around 300,000 words 🙂 )

Friday Group Therapy: Hospitals And Testing

[Leather Couch]It’s time again for my treatment in the Friday Group Therapy clinic. Due to personal reasons, Brian (who sets the questions for FGT) was unable to post last weeks questions on time, but he posted them on Monday – but by then I was too busy to check the site 🙁 So, technically a week late (so expect another Friday Group Therapy entry soon), is FGT: Hospitals and Testing.

  1. Have you ever had a medical procedure performed that you were too embarrassed to discuss at first?
Nope. I came close to having one that might have embarrassed the hospital though. I was having my ingrowing toenail (yuck!) removed when I was in my early teens and they put me in the children’s ward. I was the only one there over the age of around 3. The nurse came around and started putting patches on the back of everybody’s hands – I enquired what this was for and she explained that it was to numb the hand and arm for the general anaesthetic which we would have.

I thought that it was mighty odd to have a general for something as “minor” as a toenail removal and I checked with my Dad who agreed with me. We then glanced round the ward, and there seemed to be an extraordinary number of “Jewish looking” families. Now, think for a moment what little Jewish boys normally have done to them which will cause quite a lot of pain and hence necessitate a general anaesthetic?

Yep – I went in to have a toe nail removed and the hospital was planning on removing some skin from another extremity. I pointed, with some urgency, this out to the nurse who didn’t believe me and said she’d check with the Doctor. Around 10 minutes later she came back and said, yep, there had been a slight mistake as she had been informed everyone on the ward was in for a circumcision(!). She removed the numbing thing from the back of my hand (it took around 20 minutes for me to get full feeling back) and I then had my toe nail (and nothing else) removed.
