Guess That Movie: VIII: Goldmember

[Guess That Movie Round Eight]I don’t know how he did it – but P33r_m3 has managed three “Guess That Movies” in a row! The last movie image, as he correctly guessed, was indeed from the 2001 movie Evolution [Order from Amazon.co.uk] starring (from left to right in the picture and ignoring the scientist/doctor in the background) Julianne Moore, Orlando Jones and David ‘Fox Mulder From The X-files’ Duchovny.

I haven’t had a chance to even think about doing the scores yet – but here’s the latest image. The only clue I’m going to give is: “That isn’t the year the movie was made.”

Leave a comment to enter the competition (yep – there is a prize scheme going on)…

A: Austin Powers 3: Goldmember. Correctly guessed by LD.

At the moment the “prize scheme” text reads as follows:

Each screenshot is worth 100 points. Every incorrect guess made on that image takes the prize down by 5 points. After the image has been “live” for 12 hours, the points value goes down by 10 – and then it falls by a further 10 every 24hours after posting. So, let’s say you guessed it 2 days 1hour after it was posted and there had been 3 incorrect guesses before yours – you would be awarded 65points: made up of 100points – 3 times 5 (3 incorrect guesses) – 10 (as its after 12 hours) – 10 (as it’s been 24hours since posting).

Once you’ve got over 500 points, you can consider claiming your prize which will be a choice between an electronic Amazon gift certificate for the Amazon store of your choice (500 points will get you a minimum of a £5 gift certificate – of course £5 will be converted into your local currency, so Americans can look forward to an a Amazon certificate of at least $8 at current market rates ) and maybe something else (I’m still trying to decide what the something else could be)! You could, if you were a quick guesser, be able to get the prize within 5 movies… I will shortly be going back through the previous entries and tallying up winners scores so far – expect a “score chart” soon (it’ll just show a name and score – nothing else, so there’s no need to worry about your email addy).

Yep, I am being generous – a contest which costs you nothing to enter, and one that I get no money from…. I must be a fool (yep ). I’m going to make a little “promise” here that I’ll try and keep “GTM” running until at least post number 24 (which is when the current “prize run” will halt, but I may decide to keep running it) – so the quicker you correctly guess the image the better. Judges decision (ie mine) is final, yadda yadda yadda. Of course, if people decide to make a donation to me it may convince me to either “up” the prize fund or keep it running even longer…

  1. Which one though? There’s three Back To The Future movies, but you can only guess at one at a time…

  2. Hi Super Beastmaster and welcome to “Guess The Movie” 🙂 Is that URL yours by any chance? It’s just that I came across it a few hours and have been meaning to look at it since… It’s loaded in another window now.

Yes, it was a happy ending “The future is whatever you make it, so make it a good one” with little Jules and little Verne in the Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang esque flying train.

But nope, that screen shot wasn’t taken from Back To The Future III. Try again…

  3. sorry about this but, Face-Off maybe?

  4. Maybe a Back to the Future movie? I’m at a loss for this one.

  5. No need to be sorry – it isn’t Face Off – try again 🙂

At least you’ve just saved me from awarding you another 100 points…

  6. sorry, I thought it said detonation 1975, could be back to the future , but thats a wild guess

  7. Back To The Future I. II was in the future and III was in the 19th century :).

  8. Ooh, I was wondering when you would make an appearance Neil. Yep, BTTF2 was set in the future – but in Back To The Future 1 the nice DeLorean hit 88 miles per hour and sent Marty back to.. 19×5.

Unfortunately, the “x” is another 5: He went back to 1955 and not 1975. And, to my recall, the Doc never keyed in 1975 into the time machine in Back To The Future 1 either…. Go on, Guess again! 🙂

  9. Hey, Richy. I’m going to guess Back To The Future III. I don’t remember the film but I’ve based this guess on the fact that he got back and there was a happy ending etc.

  10. LD LD

    Austin Powers: Goldmember?

  11. It wasn’t TimeCop, but LD correctly guessed it as Goldmember! Well done and welcome back!

  12. Yeah, that is my URL for my online comic, but I’m afraid that the servers are down at the moment for maintenance. Did you say you came across it before I posted?

Anyway, since I refuse to believe that this screenshot doesn’t come from a BTTF movie, I’m going to guess at BTTF 2.

  13. Yes, about 3 hours ago – I can’t remember where from though (it was somehow linked from someone elses blog – but whose I can’t remember).

As you know now, it wasn’t from Back To The Future at all – the car is in fact Austin Power’s Pimpmobile in Goldmember. And, yep, the time travelling car idea was a parody/rip-off of Back To The Future. Bad luck, but see if you have any success with the new image.

GOLDMEMBER!!! Right after he said “cough” he’s in his pimpmobile-time machine.
