Hey, stumbled upon your weblog by accident….

Good luck with the diet but I thought i’d just offer you a few tips to shedding those pounds (*cue urls for dodgy diet pills that let you lose weight when you sleep*).

The first tip is really not to eat as little as you are. obviously cutting down on calories is the best way to lose some weight but you are cutting down a bit too much. When you’re not getting enough food the metabolism of the body just slows to a crawl – you will find yourself tired, depressed and lacking any get up and go. The body will also just burn up muscle – it’s much easier to break down than fat is..and so any weight you are losing isn’t really the stuff you want to lose.

A good thing to do would be to eat a little more – perhaps 1000-1500 calories and then go down to your 700 or so a day calorie target through exercise. You probably wont be able to get in that much per day but its a good target. Theres a few good ways of getting extra exercise anyway – go for walks a couple of times a week, cycle to work if you can, don’t park in the nearest car park to where you want to go, go to the next coffee shop instead of the one closest to work.

When you are out just have a pint less than you usually do or make the last pint a diet coke. Hide the TV remote so you have to do small bits of exercise to change channel. Eat according to the “food pyramid”: Eat most of carbs, fruit and veg, then meat/fish and dairy stuff..and avoid as many sweets and crisps as you can.

All the changes will be startling but can you see yourself eating that stuff in 3 years time? Probably not..and thats why diets fail. Just let better eating and drinking come into your routine and add in the exercise, then in a few months everything will be routine and normal for you and the weight will come off over time. If you can’t see your current eating habits lasting even 6 months then theres no point following the diet.

It will take time but if you can get used to eating better and exercising more then you are gaurenteed 100% to lose weight. Theres no need for ‘green days’ or ‘red days’ or meal-replacement shakes, not even for Dr Atkins.

Also remember that just because something is low in fat doesnt mean its good for you – often stuff is high in sugar to compensate.

Good luck, im sure you can do it 🙂

ps – great healthy snack. Get some grapes, cut them in half then freeze them. You then have ‘good-for-you’ frozen ‘sweets’ that are _really_ tasty.
