When I originally wrote this entry, I was slightly drunk, tired and just wanted to have a ramble – so read it if you want 🙂
Anyways, I’ve just been downstairs eating dinner: 800g (1.76lbs in “proper weights”) of Turkey breast joint, veggies (canned carrots, sweetcorn and peas), mashed potato (Smash instant mash to be exact) and gravy. Quite filling – even after I spilt a little over the sofa (trying to get the meat off the bone) oops!
It was the first “proper” meal I’ve had for nearly a week: I’ve been mainly “snacking” – I think the pizza I had on Sunday night was the largest meal since Crimbo day. But I suppose once all the chocolates have run out (already munched through a 400g/0.88lb box of Mars Maltesers, nearly finished a tub of 461g/1.02lb Cadbury’s Heroes and some Elizabeth Shaw chocolate mints).
I spent the night mainly eating dinner, drinking a small bottle of cider and watching Critters. A good film about a bunch of porcupine aliens set out to eat anything that moves. I thought the actor who played Charlie was the same one who played Stanley Spadowski in UHF but it wasn’t.
I finished drinking my bottle of Scrumpy cider and then checked the actor/UHF lookup over at the IMDB. Then I went back downstairs and watched Critters 2 – I thought I recognised “Nana” from something else and I was right! Herta Ware appeared as Mrs.Bowman in 2010 (which is probably where I recognised her from as it is one of my favourite films), but she also appeared in Cocoon, Cocoon 2 and Species – all films I like 🙂
I also thought I recognised the bus driver – but alas, I got that one wrong.
Near the end I started thinking about my GESF: mainly because I glanced at my second bottle of Scrumpy Cider and realised it was made in Hertfordshire – no, she doesn’t live in Hertfordshire, but she’s been staying where my previously bottle of Scrumpy was made (yeah – you try figure out the logic there 🙂 I did warn you that I was slightly drunk). I last spoke to her on Friday – 3 or 4 days ago (and that was only for around 10 minutes). Considering we were practically speaking every day for nearly an hour – it is slightly “worrying”. She did say on Friday that she’d give me a call back (as she had to pop out), but the next day she sent me a text message saying she got back and practically fell asleep and she’ll try and give me a call that day. The following day (Sunday), I got a message from her saying she’s staying an extra day at (where she stayed over Christmas) and she’ll gimme a call the next day (today). And since it’s gone four in the morning, I have doubts she’s going to call 🙁
Now I’m not sure whether or not to call her or wait for her call…I might call her to wish her Happy New year at the very least – but I’m not sure yet what my plans are for the evening.
The phone did wake me up at 11am this morning and I was instantly alert thinking it was her – but it was just OFTEL (the UK’s telephone regulator) following up on an email spam issue I’ve consulted them about. All I’m currently prepared to say at this moment is that the UK company that sent over 600 UCE’s is probably going to go out of business…
Plus, I suppose I’m slightly emotional (even though I’ve only had 2 bottles of Scrumpy – I can usually drink 3 or 4 on an empty stomach and still be ok) because it’s New Years Eve. At the moment I’ve got no plans (I think I spent last New Years Eve drunk deliberately as it was my first New Years “alone” – my ex-fiancee and I had split up ’bout 4 months previously), but all I want to do is be with my GESF and be able to give her a really big huggle (it’s a cross between a hug and a cuddle: don’t even ask 😉 ).
Oh – and the copy of “Troll” which I won off Ebay still hasn’t arrived 🙁 Drat.
