Ahhh – one of the most awaited films for ages got its premier in Europe on Thursday (at Cannes) and it has already taken $42.5million in the US box office. And whilst some critics have said it was quite good to “ok”, there’s one thing I didn’t like.
The Back To The Future similarity.
Eh? I hear you ask – well, to avoid spoiling the ending of The Matrix Reloaded for people, you’ll have to read the full length version of this entry to find out exactly what I mean.
And since you are reading this, you are already reading the full length version – so turn away now if you don’t want part of the film to be spoilt.
Basically, we all know the original BTTF was a great hit and then they decided to make 2 sequels (the Wachowski brothers, on the other hand, claim they always planned to make 3 Matrix films). But to ensure people came back for part 3, they ended part 2 on a bit of a cliffhanger with “To be continued…” at the end of part 2.
Yep – “Matrix Reloaded” isn’t actually “a movie that can stand on its own” (say, like Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets ), but is actually “the first half of a long movie” and, in BTTF style, has “To be concluded…” at the end of the 2nd movie. Blarg 🙁
