Personal: Temporarily Deafness

Ear EarI’ve gone temporarily deaf: in one ear I can only hear a fizzing noise and the other ear has been reduced to around 50% hearing. Why am I not more concerned? Because I’ve inflicted it on myself!

Yep, that’s right, I’ve made myself deaf. Before any of you point out what a stupid idea that is and that I shouldn’t listen to loud music, don’t worry – it hasn’t been caused by abuse of my hearing (I prefer things quiet anyway). Basically, I’ve noticed a gradual reduction in my hearing the last year or so and finally decided to do something about it: it’s happened once before (around 5 years ago), but then my hearing would fail to such a degree that every morning it would take around 2 hours before I was able to hear anything and I had to make an appointment with the Doctors to have my ears syringed (basically a strange machine is put into your ear canal and “fires” warm water into the ear for a few minutes and collects all the gunk that comes out). It’s quite lovely to walk into the Doctors partially deaf and walk out with better hearing that you’ve had for ages, but I just haven’t got the time to make an appointment at the Doctors as I’m very busy (yes I am, honest! 🙂 ).

So I decided to take the proactive method and went down to Boots (a large chemist chain here in the UK) and buy some ear wax remover solution (10ml for their “own brand” stuff: £4.65/$7.45) and I’ve just used it and twenty minutes later my left ear is still “bubbling”/fizzing away and there’s a movie I want to watch and record in 15 minutes .

Snippet: Parents call, I sleep

*snippet* My parents are currently in Tunisia having a holiday and they gave me a quick call around 8pm for a chat. Which I did so: answering the phone in my bedroom (as I’m normally upstairs anyway). Bad move, as I was chatting, I rested on my bed and as soon as they had gone I drifted off into slumberland. Aaargh, “I don’t believe I wanted to do that”. Woke up at 11pm with my computer announcing that a TV programme was on that I wanted to watch: so quick rush to clean cat bowl, let cat out, have dinner, watch programme, let cat back in, check helpdesk for work and now I’m back to bed.

Work, sleep, Work, sleep: It’s all I ever seem to do at the moment (well and play Sim related games 😉 ).

Guess That Movie: LIV: The Graduate

Guess That Movie 54“Mom, Guess That Movie round 53 was Young Frankenstein [Order from Amazon.co.uk] amazoncom:6305168857″, “A certain Mommy knows that Kymberlie R. McGuire is going to be getting an extra 100 points for that”.

Don’t ask 😉 But Kymberlie managed to walk away with 100 points again for last round, and once this round has been guessed I’ll tot up the scores again but I’m sure she’s entitled to another Amazon gift voucher again.

In the mean time, take a look at round 54. You don’t have to play it, but if you do you could win up to 100 points. You still have to give at least three items of information: your name or alias for the audience, your email address for your friend Richy to be able to award you any prizes and your 50/50 guess of the name of the movie (50/50 as it’s either going to be right or wrong). Are you absolutely sure that’s your guess? Then leave it a comment: but if I catch any awaiting contestants coughing then I’ll be sending an Army Major and a lecturer around… It’s still faster finger first though!

(And you thought my ramblings couldn’t get any stranger 🙂 )

Snippet: Zzzz needed

*snippet* Need sleep. Need to update Guess that movie. Need to update new websites. Need to block all inbound traffic to machine that has the three letters s-i-m anywhere in it.

I got home from work and I actually thought I’d done some “personal work” done: but I instantly find an online s-i-m game – I was going to blog about it but it’s slightly adult orientated and definitely has an Adult theme at the end. Personally, I think it’ll be a better game if it wasn’t for that unnecessary “hard Adult content” at the end but… If you want to play it, you’ll have to AltaVista (or, if you prefer, Google 😀 ) for “sim girl” on ebaumsworld, flashradium or newgrounds ….

Guess That Movie: LIII: Young Frankenstein

Guess That Movie Image 53Finally, it’s time for Guess That Movie round 53 (dum dum dumm). Yep, after many incorrect guesses, round 52 was recognised as being Loser (2000) amazoncom:B00003CXK7 [Order from Amazon.co.uk] by long-standing contestant Kymberlie R. McGuire: she picked up a massive 200 points for it as I kinda punished myself: if people can’t guess the image before all the points expire (as they did in that case), then obviously I made the image waaay too hard and hence should award extra points – it’s just a little bit irritating that Kymberlie picked them up (she’s got enough points already 🙂 ).

Anyway, on with this image – which I’m sure you’ve all been waiting for. A word of warning whilst you guess at which movie the screen shot was taken from – it’s not as old as it looks (and, no, I didn’t “monochrome it”). Just leave a comment with your name (or alias), email address (which is hidden) and your guess and I’ll try and let you know if you are right or wrong in a timely manner.

Now, here’s some classic kiddies TV lyrics that I’ve mangled for no good reason apart from the fact I wanted to : 😀
“Why don’t you,
Why don’t you,
Just switch off your computer set and,
go and do something less boring instead.

Sitting at home, typing away,
Turn it off it’s no good to me,

Why don’t you,
Why don’t you,
Why don’t you”
(And to think I used to watch a program with a theme song that bad! 🙁 )
