Guess That Movie: VII: Evolution

[Guess That Movie Round Seven]Congratulations P33r_m3 for correctly guessing the previous Guess That Movie image. The flag was from the insurance company-cum-boat “that sailed the wide account-seas” the “Crimson Tide” from the mini-feature at the start of Monty Python’s The Meaning Of Life [Order from] .

He/she/it 🙂 even managed to guess it within the first hour, so they get the full one hundred points…. grrr…

I haven’t had a chance yet to work out all the scores, but they are coming soon – I promise! In the meantime, try this little image for size. No clues yet (with a prize at stake I want to make it as hard as possible), so just guess away.

A: Evolution. Correctly guessed by Ph33r_m3

Prize? Yep, I did mention a prize. If you missed the last GTM (Guess That Movie), I did announce a prize scheme. Here’s the text again:

Each screenshot is worth 100 points. Every incorrect guess made on that image takes the prize down by 5 points. After the image has been “live” for 12 hours, the points value goes down by 10 – and then it falls by a further 10 every 24hours after posting. So, let’s say you guessed it 2 days 1hour after it was posted and there had been 3 incorrect guesses before yours – you would be awarded 65points: made up of 100points – 3 times 5 (3 incorrect guesses) – 10 (as its after 12 hours) – 10 (as it’s been 24hours since posting).

Once you’ve got over 500 points, you can consider claiming your prize which will be a choice between an electronic Amazon gift certificate for the Amazon store of your choice (500 points will get you a minimum of a £5 gift certificate – of course £5 will be converted into your local currency) and maybe something else (I’m still trying to decide what the something else could be)! You could, if you were a quick guesser, be able to get the prize within 5 movies… I will shortly be going back through the previous entries and tallying up winners scores so far – expect a “score chart” soon (it’ll just show a name and score – nothing else, so there’s no need to worry about your email addy).

Yep, I am being generous – a contest which costs you nothing to enter, and one that I get no money from…. I must be a fool (yep 😉 ). I’m going to make a little “promise” here that I’ll try and keep “GTM” running until at least post number 24 (which is when the current “prize run” will halt, but I may decide to keep running it) – so the quicker you correctly guess the image the better. Judges decision (ie mine) is final, yadda yadda yadda. Of course, if people decide to make a donation to me it may convince me to either “up” the prize fund or keep it running even longer…

So, how do you enter? Simple! Just leave a comment with your guess in this post and then wait for me to say yep or nope. You don’t have to wait for me to respond to previous guessers before guessing yourself, but please do not make multiple guesses at once.

This post is over 6 months old.

This means that, despite my best intentions, it may no longer be accurate.

This blog holds over 12 years of archived content - during that time, I may have changed my opinion of something, technology will have advanced (and old "best standards" may no longer be the case), my technology "know how" has improved etc etc - it would probably take me a considerable amount of time to update all the archival entries: and defeat the point of keeping them anyway.

Please take these posts for what they are: a brief look into my past, my history, my journey and "caveat emptor".

  1. Ph33r_m3 says:

its from evolution, dont know who the guy is, and im a 17yr old male, dont know wether that qualifies me as man or boy

  2. Richy C. says:

I’m doubly shocked! That’s the first time someone has got two in a row – let alone three!

And before people start casting doubt on Ph33r_m3’s l33t m0v13 sk1llz (ok, enough of the ‘leet speak’) there is no way he could have “read the answer” on this one. All the others were prepared so if he did have access to my server (which I hope he hasn’t 🙂 ) he could have cheated, but this one (which was, indeed, Evolution) was only recorded on a scrappy piece of paper which is half under a book under on my keyboard draw (my keyboard is on top of the desk).

Thanks to this clever 17 year old (!), I’ve now got to take a few more screen shots before the “Guess The Movie” competion can continue – so it’ll be an hour or two before you can continue guess.

    Congratulations again Ph33r_m3!
