Game: Dibblez

[Dibblez]Dibblez is a fun little Flash game where you’ve simply got to get three or more “dibblez” (the little funny faced blobs) in a row – vertically or horizontally. You manage this by swapping the places of two dibblez at a time – no more, no less: plus there is the additional catch that if you don’t make a line with that swap, the dibblez go back to where they were.

My highest score so far has been 3,660 which included two bonuses (you accrue bonus points by getting more than 3 Dibblez in a line or managing to complete more than one line in a go – set it up correctly and you can get half-a-dozen lines going ‘pop’).

(Off-topic: I thought the word was spelt “swop”, but my spell checker says “swap” – oh well…)

TV: Wobble and Bob II

[Weeble from Weeble+Bob]I’ve just caught the latest episode of “Wobble and Bob” on MTV UK (NTL analogue cable channel 12) – it’s on at 9.58pm: just before Jackass. I must admit, I didn’t think much of the Psychiatrist episode (Bob goes to see a psychiatrists, explains that he sold his house so Webbl – sorry, Wobble, could buy a rocket, and then the psychiatrist is next seen begging for money). It’s not an episode on the official “Weebl and Bob” website (there are only 25 episodes available there), but “Weebl” (actually J.Picking) has stated in the forums that he has done some episodes especially for MTV:UK and until they give the “say so” they can’t appear on his website.

There are also meant to be official “Wobble and Bob” black t-shirts (made in China) coming out soon, but there are some semi-official “Weebl and Bob” ones out already.

My favourite episode? Well, I think the first one – “Pie!” would be the one (especially how Weebl/Wobble looks around before shouting) but the two of “Bob’s Trip to France” are quite good as well.

Personal: 2nd job offer

[Bus]Typical! I wait several months for a job role and two come along at once (just like buses). Yep, today I was kinda offered another post. This is a job which the agency (Computer Futures) originally called me about mid-December and said they had a potential position for me. They called me back twice last week to see if I was still available and to arrange a telephone interview for me today.

At 9am, Karl (of CF) called me to confirm the telephone chat – and I had to inform him that I had been offered a position that I was more than happy with (good role, good salary, good location and, by looks of things, a ‘good team’) and that I, unfortunately, was no longer interested. After much persuading, Karl managed to get me to agree to do the interview (partly due to me feeling guilty about the fact that he had spent so long chasing this vacancy) with the dangling carrot of a potential salary of twice what I had agreed to with my new job.

Snippet: Nooo! Spam!

*snippet* Nooo! I was just checking my email before taking a bath (email last checked 30 minutes ago) and there are 760 spam emails awaiting me. Over 600 of those have already been “Blacklisted” on previous occassions. I’ve now got to spend 10 minutes updating my filters to try and catch the rest of them automatically.. *grrr*

Poll: Are you a Nerd?

[Dilbert at a computer]According to the category description at the ODP,are “Geeks and Nerds, those misfits of society. Whatever your interest, be it coding, books, Role Playing or online gaming, there are sites out there to promote the geek lifestyle and reassure you that you aren’t alone, and you might just be cool too.“. Personally, I tend to think of Geeks and Nerds being people who really enjoying (and spend a lot of time) at computers out of choice.

Anyway, I picked a test at random out of the Geeks and Nerds Tests category – and now we’ll see if I am a Nerd via the Archie McPhee Nerd Test.

1: Own website+own domain name- yes, several times. 2: Have you ever taken Latin – no, because that option hasn’t been available to me, but I do like the Latin language and I’ve learnt a little bit of it and occasionally use it in conversation (especially on IRC). 3: In the UK, exchange ‘Radio Shack’ for Tandy (as that is it’s UK trading name) – or Maplins. 5: Do you use a computer for 4 hours or more everyday and has your computer time ever been ‘rationed’ – yep and yep.

My score? 529 (after losing 25 points as I did the test via a Windows machine) – my Nerd rating is 113.28%. So I’m more of a Nerd than Bill Gates and George W. Bush – but not as much as a Nerd as Dilbert.
