Personal: Freak out time….

Ok, what’s the odds of guessing somebody’s birthday *exactly* on your first guess? 1 in 365? Well, if you know their star sign, it’s more like 1 in 30, but I still achieved it! I don’t know how I did it myself, it just felt right but…. It freaked her out and it freaked myself out! Proceeding to guess her mothers name on the first guess as well (just based on my friends initials) makes it doubly so!

Now I just want to know why I haven’t won the lottery yet….

Personal: Yes! I passed my theory test!

At my second attempt, I managed to pass my car driving theory test! Yippee for me!

Technically, I passed the theory test the first time as well (34/35 on the first try, 33/35 on the second – pass mark was 30), but I failed the hazard perception by a single point (I scored 43 last time: pass mark was 44 out of 75). This time, due to a lot more clicking (sometimes as many as 8 times on a single clip), I scored 59 out of 75 and passed!

Now just to think about booking the car driving practical test – and then I can be a menace on the roads! Mwhahaha!

Yes, I’m back!

After nearly 1.5 years, I’m back blogging – this time with a WordPress driven blog.

Why did I stop blogging?

Well, mainly due to spam. The comment spam got to such a level that every time I wanted to blog, I had to spend the time deleting spam instead. This took the “fun” out of it as well.

Hopefully WordPress (with a large number of plugins) will help keep the spam under control unlike the old version of Movable Type I had installed.

For the record, when I logged into my MovableType blog, there were over 17,500 comments! After deleting all the spam, I was left with under 3,000 comments!

Personal: Holiday Photos Now Available

As some of you may be aware, in September last year, I treated myself to a 16 day holiday in Tokyo, Japan. I’ve just got round to uploading around 340 photos (230Mb!) to http://japan04.rac.me.uk/ for viewing. Pictures are variable in quality and most don’t have descriptions at the moment (I’ll try and add them later on).

You’ll notice that the pictures start on “Day 5” – this is because when I went to Japan, I took my little Kodak EZ-200 camera with me: but by day 5 I had filled it up. However, whilst I had the cables and my laptop with me – I forgot to bring the drivers for the camera so I couldn’t download the photos! I had to buy a quite nice Ricoh Caplio RX 3.2Megapixels camera and use that. But when I got back to the UK, I found out the Kodak camera managed to somehow get corrupted! So the first 5 days photos of my first “own” holiday are now lost! It’s a double shame as on Day 2, I had a tour around Tokyo and took lots of good pictures 🙁

Personal: Well, that’s a different phone call

Here’s the *exact* transcript of a phone call I just received:
-RING- (yep, I got it on the first ring)
Me: Hello?
Caller: Hello – who is this?
Me: May I ask who is calling?
Caller: Sorry, I think I’ve got the wrong number.
Me: Yes. Bye
-click-

If this conversation is familiar and you called somebody at 20:04 on Saturday 19th of Feb 2005 from a mobile telephone number ending in 775 (with a total of five 7’s in the number), then hello! And thanks the the baffling call!
