Richy's Random Ramblings

Guess That Movie: Scores So Far IV

[Guess That Movie rounds 28 to 36]I don’t know about you, but the last 9 Guess That Movie images just shot by for me: in fact, so quickly I haven’t had much time to work on the new site for it yet – that means that “Guess That Movie” will be staying here for just a little bit longer, and yep, it does mean you’ll have to endure my random ramblings for a while more – but I’m sure that’s the real reason you are here isn’t it?

Anyway, what has the last 9 images done to the score board? Well, 9 images ago Kymberlie R. McGuire only had 480 points – but she’s been really really “persistent” (I think the word is) and managed to be the first person to correct guess 8 of the previous nine images: plus she picked up ten bonus points for correctly recognising a bonus round of “Knightmare” (see round 29 for details). She’s now galloping in front with a massive 1170 points (that’s worth £11.70 in real money, or a $18.73 in American dollars), ph33r_m3 still hasn’t claimed his gift voucher prize worth £5.90 (for 590 points) so they will both be receiving an email shortly.

The “missing image”? New comer “Shaun” managed to pick up 95 points by recognising image 34 as being from “Forrest Gump”, well done Shaun – now I just wish the rest of you could recognise movies as quick: Kymberlie’s going to end up costing me loads at this rate – and I’m still waiting for people to actually buy stuff from the Amazon link’s I’m placing: if you didn’t recognise the film – why not buy it? For example, last round (round 36) was “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” and can be brought directly from Amazon.com by clicking on amazoncom:B00006FMUW or from Amazon.co.uk by clicking on [Order from Amazon.co.uk] . Failing that, you could always take out a low cost textads advert ($2.50 for a thousand impressions, minimum buy 250 OR $0.35 per click, minimum buy just 14): remember, the more money I have coming in, the more I can spend on prizes – and points mean prizes!

Next round coming soon…Good luck (and, for Deity and Flibblepenguin’s sake, somebody get guessing them before Kymberlie does! At least she’s getting a nice early birthday present (she’s 28 on March the 18th).

Snippet: Ouch! Legs hurt

*snippet* Make mental note: If, when I finish work, I decide to go to the pub – do a few things before hand. Catch bus or taxi into town instead of walking and ensure pub is open. If it’s closed down (as happened in my case), catch bus or taxi back home – do not decide to walk home alongside the canal and then realise you aren’t 100% sure why the canal footpath leads. Over 2.5hours walking, in the dark (as there were hardly any streetlights until I got to the last 3 miles towards home) and my feet and legs ache A LOT: it’s the most walking I’ve done all year and I regret it already!

Oh – bang went my idea of “going out” for the first time this year. And I dunno where I’m going to go in the future – I quite liked Karaoke at the pub as well 🙁

Guess That Movie: XXXVI: My Big Fat Greek Wedding

[Guess That Movie Round 36]Kymberlie R. McGuire managed to do it (picking up 100 points) yet again by correctly guessing the image from Guess That Movie 35 was taken from “The Silence Of The Lambs” [Order from Amazon.co.uk] amazoncom:B00005LINB (yep, you can click on either of those links to by the movie from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com respectively). In fact, buy buy buy – it’s “prize giving time” at the end of this round, and it looks like it’s going to be costing me a pretty penny once I’ve topped up the scores.

Nobody’s yet had a go at the bonus round, so here it is again, but with a reduced bonus of 15 points as I’m giving away extra clues. The aim? Be the first person to make the necessary “degrees of separation” between the actress Dervla Kirwan and the comedian Lenny Henry. Here’s the clues: Dervla was in Goodnight Sweetheart with Nicholas Lyndhurst, whilst Lenny is married to Dawn French who appears in a large number of programmes (too numerous to name) with her “comedy partner” Jennifer Saunders. Now you’ve just got to complete the connection between Nicholas and Jennifer – there’s not that many more steps to go.

Oh – and here’s round 36 (already? *shocked*) of the “Guess That Movie” game.
A: My Big Fat Greek Wedding. [Order from Amazon.co.uk] amazoncom:B00006FMUW Correctly guessed by Kymberlie R. McGuire

Games: Bombing Bush

[Bomb Bush]Yep, at long last I’m blogging about another game! Yippee! In fact, it’s been a whole month since I last blogged about a game (Grid Lock) and I’ll try and not make it so long again.

In George W. Bush: National Missile Defense you control Dubya and his pretty little umbrella and have just got to save the Whitehouse from a missile by bouncing it off the top of your umbrella. Use your mouse to control him and make him move left and right – but just don’t get distracted by Tony Blair popping around for a cup of tea.

60 is my highest score so far, but “allegedly” someone has managed to score 36,129 – considering the remaining of the scores top 129 I think 129 is the highest score so far.

Guess That Movie: XXXV: Silence Of The Lambs

[Guess That Movie Round 35]Yesss! At long last, somebody has beaten Kymberlie in correctly guessing that movie! Round 34 saw newcomer “Shaun” recognising the screenshot as being taken from Forrest Gump [Order from Amazon.co.uk] amazoncom:B00003CXA2 before Kymberlie did! I was beginning to get worried that Kymberlie was the only player 🙂

I’m just about to try and go to sleep now (drinking a pint of “simulation drink” packed with caffeine was a bad idea), but see how well you go at recognising this shot of somebody’s back. It should be reasonably difficult, but it was a popular movie a few years ago (I’m not saying how many though) so it should still be recognisable.

Oh – and I’m giving an extra 25 points away to the first person to make the necessary “degrees of separation” between the actress Dervla Kirwan and the comedian Lenny Henry. To start you off, Dervla starred in “Goodnight Sweetheart” and Lenny’s married to Dawn French – but can you complete the connection between “Goodnight Sweetheart” and Dawn French? Remember, these bonus points are “extras” – you don’t even have to “guess that movie” to try and make the connection, but you can do if you want. I can connect them with a total of 8 people in the chain: the lowest number of people in the chain the better!
