Guess That Movie: XVIII: From Dusk Till Dawn

January 30th, 2003

[Guess That Movie 18]Ooh, it seems round 17 was quite difficult, but new contestant “Dr G” managed to correctly recognise Sam Neill as Dr.Weir in a scene near the end of the 1997 sci-fi horror “Event Horizon[Order from] .

Sorry it took me so long to yes/no the guess (around 8 hours), but I was sleeping…

Have a go at the image though and see if, in round 18 of Guess That Movie, you can increase your scores! Go on – guess away!

[Guess That Movie 17]Congratulations new player KHD for recognising the previous image was Robin William’s “What Dreams May Come[Order from] . Hello, welcome and well done 🙂

The image was taken from around the 44th minute of the movie and just shows Dr. Chris Nielson (Robin Williams) and Leona (Rosalind Chao) in a boat together in heaven. It’s one of those films which you’ll either really like or just don’t “get”. I fall in to the latter category – I did try watching it but it just didn’t hold me interest for long enough.

Anyway, on to the new image which marks round 17 of Guess That Movie!. It’s blue and, marking a change from the previous two images, it shows a bloke on his own. But who? And more important in which film? The last one was from a “dream” but this one appears to be more from a nightmare!

Go on have a guess, that’s points to be grabbed and prizes to be won, it’s a real crazy game where anything goes.. Funhouse, it’s a ….. Sorry – just drifted off into early 1990’s UK children’s television gameshows there…(and, no, that wasn’t a clue).

Guess That Movie: XVI: What Dreams May Come

[Round Sixteen of Guess That Movie]Well, Ph33r_m3 managed to do it again and picked up another 100 points for quickly identifying that the previous Guess That Movie image was, in fact, Halle Berry‘s right breast (ok, the image was rotated) in her orange bikini at the start of James Bond: Die Another Day [Order from] .

That puts Ph33r_m3 at the top of the leader board with 430 points so far (although LD is close behind with 380 points). It’s going to be close – Ph33r_m3 just needs an extra 70 points to be able to claim the first ever Guess That Movie prize – but all it’ll take is 6 incorrect guesses by other people and he won’t be able to win enough points this round (hint hint 😉 ). Of course, it’ll only take one correct guess from someone else and this round’s points will go to them. And yep, this is my pathetic attempt at trying to fix the scores and start up a little more competition!

Come on people guess that movie before Ph33r_m3!

Guess That Movie: XV: Die Another Day

[Guess That Movie Round 15]I don’t know how the h-ll Ph33r_m3 managed to recognise the previous image that was taken from Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb [Order from] , but he did. The image showed the late Peter Sellers on the left playing President Merkin Muffley (he also played Captain Lionel Mandrake and Dr. Strangelove) – I’m still not sure who the person on the right was though. Oh well. Yes, the movie was originally in black and white (I added the color/colour by hand) and one of clues I gave out was referring to Dr.Strangelove suffering from “alien hand syndrome” (which is an affliction that can be caused by a stroke or other brain injury) – it’s been nicknamed “Dr.Strangelove syndrome”.

That strange win (I actually specifically picked that picture to try and reduce the chance of Ph33r_m3 guessing the movie – but I still failed) moved Ph33r_m3 into second place in the charts with 330 points – LD is still in the lead with 380. But it could all change with this new image. Once again, since people are extremely close to the magical “prize claiming” 500 point mark – I’ve slightly altered it. Nothing too drastic (as that wouldn’t be allowed under the rule’s I’ve devised for myself) but hopefully the small change should just throw some people off the scent (or maybe not – I can still recognise it, but then again I already know which movie it is!).

Go on punk – make my day!

Guess That Movie: XIV: Dr. Strangelove

[Guess That Movie Round 14]Now I am annoyed! LD managed to increase his/her/their lead by another 100 points by recognising Mouth (played by Corey Feldman) having the jewels removed from his mouth by Mama Fratelli near the end of the 1985 children’s movie The Goonies. A movie well worth watching as it’s quite funny as the gang try and get One Eyed Willies treasure (and, no, I don’t think that is a reference to part of the male anatomy).

I think I’ve been giving away the points so easily as most of you can remember the films – so let’s go back into the mists of time for this image. And to make it extra difficult to guess, I’ve slightly photo-edited the image. Nothing too major, but hopefully enough to through you off the scent… After all, LD only needs another 120 points to be the first one to claim the prize! I’m actually so confident that this one is going to be extra difficult to guess, that I’m going to offer another 20 points if you can name the actors AND characters shown in the image capture – but if you do guess at them, you’ve also got to get the movie title right at the same time: an guess is either going to be totally correct or incorrect (so, you can guess at the name of the movie and just go for the ‘normal points’ or gamble for the extra 20 points by going for the actors and character names at the same time).

Donations to the prize fund are more than welcome by the way! 🙂

27th Jan 00:36 – The movie is actually black and white. I manually added the color/colour to confuse.
