I’ve just come across the Your Not Me website which is based on the 2000 UK Census data and allows you to see how popular your name is in the United Kingdom. According to the site, there are 3 other people in the UK with the same name as myself: my eldest sister is the only one of her name in the UK, my youngest sister would be likewise (if she was actually old enough to be included in the census at that point – it only includes over 18s).

There are 12,547 “John Smith”s in the UK – and the most popular forenames are: John (1,264,441), David (1,046,833), Margaret (704,453), Michael (669,377) and James (587,292) – and the most popular surnames are Smith (552,342), Jones (421,842), Williams (290,742), Brown (265,543), Taylor (256,820) – and more details are available on the top ten page: it’s quite fun finding out how many people share your name…

Yep, I finally got board of F— her Gently and Kikkoman and started hunting for a new Macromedia Flash animation to entertain me.

Luckily, I’m easily amused 😀 and this little animation caught my eye.

Now that spring is, in theory, just around the corner – perhaps it’s about time I thought about mowing my back lawn: after all, it was last mown around 3 months after I moved into my house – and it IS getting like a jungle out there.

However, I’m not a gardener so the chances of making any “proper changes” are extremely low – I’ve still got to get the fence repaired. But if I do make any changes, I might see if I can get hold of one of these lovely garden ornaments.

Does any one know where you can get one? 😀

Ever wondered what the laws of Physics that popular cartoon characters have to abide by are? Well, the research has been done and so I present the Cartoon Laws Of Physics:

Law 1
Any body suspended in space will remain in space until made aware of its situation.

Example: Wile E Coyote chases the Roadrunner off the edge of a cliff and keeps running until he looks down and realises he’s in midair – then gravity takes over and the familiar rule of 32 feet per second per second takes over.

Law 2
Any body in motion will tend to remain in motion until solid matter intervenes suddenly.

Example: Whether shot from a cannon or in hot pursuit on foot, cartoon characters are so absolute in their momentum that only a telephone pole or an outsize boulder retards their forward motion absolutely. Sir Isaac Newton called this sudden termination of motion the stooge’s surcease.

In a blatant attempt to cash in on Valentine’s Day tomorrow, here’s a large Flash Movie (over 2.9Mb: so modem users would be better giving this a miss) about how to treat a woman in the “bedroom scene”. Oh – “Richy’s Random Ramblings has rated this Flash Movie an 18 as it is not suitable for minors. This Flash Movie DOES (not “may” her) explicit strong language, nudity and images of a sexual related nature”. Do NOT play in an office environment with your speakers on loud!

Basically, I think it’s by the same people that made Ren And Stimpy (Spumco), has a good additive musical score (by Tenacious D ) and it’s extremely funny and enjoyable.

Go on my flibblepenguins, eat the Valentine’s niftyness!

(Drat – whilst writing this entry, I’ve found out that the Tenacious D website does, in fact, have this movie for download – but it’s the version where the girl doesn’t wear a bra-top. You’ve now got a choice of devil worshipping sexual related stuff!)
