TV: Big Brother “Live”

Ok, I was just watching the Lisa eviction/Jon re-entering episode of Big Brother and then watched the start of Graham Norton where he took the mikey about Lisa being voted out of the BB house (she’s the most unpopular housemate ever). So there I am around 10 minutes after I saw Jon, fresh back in the house, go to the toilet, Steph talking about how they’ll have 2 evictions next week and that he probably got in via a public vote and Jon saying he can’t say anything yadda yadda yadda.

I then turn on to “E4” (the “subscription” version of Channel 4) which is showing “Big Brother Live” and see Jon going to the toilet, Steph talking about how they’ll have 2 evictions next week and that he probably got in via a public vote and Jon saying he can’t say anything… Hang on! Either there’s a glitch in The Matrix (aka “Deja Vu”) or else “Big Brother Live” is anything BUT live.

Is there anyone else even semi-following Big Brother UK that have noticed other similar instances why the so-called “Live” version isn’t live?

Another minor moan is the fact that they keep on cutting the sound on the “Live” version: I’ve heard this is either to to technical sound problems or with housemates swearing etc: but has anyone else noticed that they never cut the sound on the Live broadcasts on Channel 4 (i.e. the evictions and Saturday Night Challenges)? Hmmm….

Personal: Too Much Work…

Blarg. I really thought I had things under control at work, but it seems I’ve been proved wrong. For the last fortnight, I’ve been working around half-an-hour to 2hours extra every night before leaving the building and doing work at home to try and clear the back log (I’ve got now 6 data centres to look after: comprising over nearly 100 servers PLUS around 40 search engine placement clients: some of which are paying a few £100s every month and are therefore entitled to quite good service 😉 PLUS I’ve had a couple of new clients in the last week PLUS writing a self-promotion search engine optimisation site which is already gathering customers even though we’ve hardly lunched it PLUS keeping up to date with what Google et al have been doing).

Yep, in short I’ve been extremely busy and sometimes, when I’ve got home, just fallen straight to sleep. Combine that with the fact that I’ve got all my “own business” stuff to do (I’ve noticed a downturn in the amount of revenue coming in from the sites so I’ve got to do something: I’ve spent today trying to slash costs and by the end of the month should have saved myself $2,000 a year).

I’ve got “task lists” at work to try and keep me on top of work related stuff, but when you get stuff that’s more important then others and then others that are even more important than that it can get very confusing and some minor things do get left behind…

Anyway – that’s my excuse of not blogging much recently: I’ve hardly had time to eat (and I’m not kidding: the cat’s been fed more often than I have – a couple of time’s I’ve had to survive on half a sandwich all day lone), but there’s some light on the horizon and it’s concerning on GESF (green eyed southern friend)…

Well, last night, around 11pm, I received a telephone call from the local police station – just basically asking if I was a witness to the road traffic accident (RTA) last night (no, first thing I knew was when I heard all the bangs and skidding), whether or not I saw people running from the scene (it wasn’t until I had found my glasses a few minutes afterwards did I even see the crashed car no longer had a bonnet!) and if I could recognise anybody (nope). That got me thinking “Hit and run driver”, and today’s Leicester Mercury confirmed that with a small article on the 2nd page which read:

Guess That Movie: LXII: Sweet and Lowdown

Guess That Movie Round 62I knew I had been forgetting something non-work related (I’ve had that much to do at work, I’ve just been getting home and wanting to avoid the PC), and it’s the latest round of Guess That Movie!

Yep, Kymberlie R. McGuire correctly recognised Guess That Movie 61 as being taken from the movie “Fled”. But can you recognise the movie this screenshot has been taken from?

The rules: Just leave a comment with your name/alias, email address (for the prize givings) and the name of the movie you think this screen shot is taken from. If you guess that movie correctly, I’ll award you some points. Points start at 100 per image and decline over time (after the first 12 hours it goes down by 10 points, then down a further 10 points every 24hours after posting) – oh and wrong guesses have a 5 point penalty. But what good are points? Well, get 500 points and you can claim a £5 Amazon gift voucher/certificate for the Amazon store of your choice (£5 will be converted into the appropriate currency at the exchange rates displayed on xe.net at the time of claim) – so you can get free books, movies and music just by playing a simple FREE guessing game!

A: Sweet and Lowdown. Correctly guessed by Kymberlie R. McGuire

Well, the fire engines (2) and ambulance (1) have now left the scene of the road traffic accident that happened just over an hour ago, the police have just completed taking the details of witnesses and car owners whose vehicles were impacted (even taking their driving licence details: even though all of them were inside watching TV/eating: but their vehicles were parked on a public highway so)…

It looks like there were no serious injuries (although one or two people looked shocked: the owner of the red car that was the first one to be impacted took a while to cool down and I think I saw him just sitting on the kerb for a while), but I’m still not sure about the location of the driver of the silver car which caused damage to around 8 vehicles.

But, as per usual, I’ll update this blog once I find out more information about the crash – but for now, here’s a collection of 640×480 (roughly 28Kb) images that I took of the crash. My camera isn’t the best on the market and the lighting conditions weren’t too good either (it’s dusk), plus the “Do not cross” barrier the fire brigade put up kept me from getting “close ups” so…
