News: Terrifica for Women

TerrificaOk, I know this article in ABC News is a bit old (it’s dated November the 5th, but no year), but I’ve only just came across it and couldn’t resist having a little giggle at it.

All, I’m saying is if a bloke said:

… because women are weak. They are easily manipulated, and they need to be protected from themselves..

then that bloke would be lynched! But for a red leotard wearing, “defender of women”, it’s ok…

Strange how it may seem, I’m sure there are women that go out at night “looking for a good time” (just like some blokes do) and probably won’t appreciate it if somebody like this interfered in their having fun – or is that just me manipulating the way I view women that have tops down to ‘there’, skirts up to ‘there’ and ‘attach’ themselves to the first bloke they see?

Actually, I believe both genders can be manipulated equally and comments like Terrifica’s can only really help men think “Women are stupid and can’t think for themselves”.

Discuss.

News: Leicester Road Traffic Accident III

Continued from News: Leicester Road Traffic Accident and News: Leicester Road Traffic Accident II.

Well, last night, around 11pm, I received a telephone call from the local police station – just basically asking if I was a witness to the road traffic accident (RTA) last night (no, first thing I knew was when I heard all the bangs and skidding), whether or not I saw people running from the scene (it wasn’t until I had found my glasses a few minutes afterwards did I even see the crashed car no longer had a bonnet!) and if I could recognise anybody (nope). That got me thinking “Hit and run driver”, and today’s Leicester Mercury confirmed that with a small article on the 2nd page which read:

News: Leicester Road Traffic Accident II

Continued from News: Leicester Road Traffic Accident.

Well, the fire engines (2) and ambulance (1) have now left the scene of the road traffic accident that happened just over an hour ago, the police have just completed taking the details of witnesses and car owners whose vehicles were impacted (even taking their driving licence details: even though all of them were inside watching TV/eating: but their vehicles were parked on a public highway so)…

It looks like there were no serious injuries (although one or two people looked shocked: the owner of the red car that was the first one to be impacted took a while to cool down and I think I saw him just sitting on the kerb for a while), but I’m still not sure about the location of the driver of the silver car which caused damage to around 8 vehicles.

But, as per usual, I’ll update this blog once I find out more information about the crash – but for now, here’s a collection of 640×480 (roughly 28Kb) images that I took of the crash. My camera isn’t the best on the market and the lighting conditions weren’t too good either (it’s dusk), plus the “Do not cross” barrier the fire brigade put up kept me from getting “close ups” so…

News: Leicester Road Traffic Accident

Road Traffic AccidentThe road I live on has just been closed (well, the end which I live on has been). Why? There’s been a RTA (Road Traffic Accident)! From what I can work out, a silver car was coming down the hill at a far whack (which, unfortunately, is not unusual), collided with a parked red car, rebounded and hit another parked car, skidded, hit another parked car, hit a few others including a van (I’m hearing 8 vehicles were involved). The silver car seems to be a total write off (the front is less than 1/4 of the size it is meant to be) and there is no signs of the driver: either he’s standing with the considerable crowd near it (I’m still at home) or he’s done – what many people are saying – a runner away from the scene.

At the moment, there are two police cars at the Belgave Boulevard end of the road, with 1 ambulance and 2 fire engines and there’s a police car a bit further up blocking traffic.

Add: As I was typing that, another police car has arrived on the scene and theres some sounds coming from the vicinity of the fire engine closest to the crashing car. At first I thought they were just “making safe” the situation by cooling the engine, but I’m getting suspicions that somebody may be trapped…

More as I get it.

News: Mwahhh! We’re back!

Leicester City Football Club Motif/LogoYes!!! After a year stuck in Division One where we had to combine celebrating a new stadium with the football club going into administration, Leicester City Football Club are heading back to the Premiership League!

After our 2-0 win over Brighton (making it our 15th unbeaten game in a row), we have now been promoted back to the Premiership where we belong and the remaining three games against Sheffield United (who are just behind us at the moment in the league), Norwich (8th) and a strange team called Wolverhampton Wanders (Wolves: currently in 6th place) are just formalities – although we will try and continue to beat Portsmouth for the title of Division One Championship (we are currently 2 points behind them but have a game in hand).

To think, this time last year when Leicester was relegated (just for the one season), my boss (now ex-boss) was soo confident that we’ll stay down and his club – Wolves – would be promoted (as they were in the playoffs this time last year). Alas, it appears that Leicester City have got what it takes and poor Wolves are destined for another year playing Nationwide Football League in Division One.

One word: Mwahhhh! 😀

Nigel is celebrating, and I might even go out into Leicester tonight and do a bit of celebrating myself! Well done the Foxes!!!
